Ag in the Classroom
The Colorado CattleWomen have been long-time partners and sponsors of the Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA).
The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture is a 501(c)3 nonprofit education corporation that implements Colorado’s Agriculture in the Classroom (CoAITC) program. The vision of CFA is to advance agricultural literacy in the next generation of consumers, citizens, and professionals. Its mission is connecting Colorado educators and students to their food, fiber, fuel, and natural resources. The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture and the Agriculture in the Classroom program are unique within the agricultural education community as the lead organization to serve the full spectrum of prek-12 formal education across the state.
Annually, CFA reaches approximately 325,000 students and teachers in urban, suburban, and rural communities across Colorado. This is accomplished through a combination of printed and electronic resources, in-person and virtual presentations, teacher conferences and public events, and multiple communications and outreach efforts. Volunteers from the Colorado CattleWomen assist with these efforts by completing classroom visits, hosting agricultural literacy events, and partnering on resources.

Cattle in Colorado History Book
The Cattle in Colorado History Book works well in fourth grade Colorado history classes. Using this resource, students learn how cattle came to Colorado, about cattle drives, and the technology that changed cattle ranching. In addition to the history of Colorado’s cattle industry, students will explore caring for livestock, nutrition, sustainability, byproducts, and much more.

Colorado Literacy Project
The Colorado Literacy Project is a way to bring agriculture into the classroom while reinforcing reading comprehension. During the spring, farmers and ranchers across Colorado visit classrooms (either in-person or virtually) and read a book that accurately depicts agriculture to the students. They answer questions and talk about their connection to agriculture. The class keeps the book. This is a FREE program.
Colorado Reader: The Story of Colorado Beef
Through this 8-page student activity newspaper, students will examine the importance of the beef cattle industry, including where cattle are produced in Colorado, the beef production cycle, and the key role cattle play in a sustainable food system. Concepts related to Colorado land use and careers in agriculture are also introduced.

Colorado Reader: Building Blocks Fuel Your Fun (Nutrition)
All foods are made up of basic nutrients. In this 8-page student activity newspaper, students will learn about the six building blocks of nutrition and the MyPlate recommendations for eating foods to make sure you have enough fuel for your body.

Colorado Reader: The Food Ecosystem
Through this 8-page student activity newsletter, students will explore the concept of a food ecosystem – human society, animal agriculture, and plat agriculture all rely on each other and together protect our environment.

Journey 2050 and Farmers 2050
Journey 2050 is a FREE cross-curricular education program, for 6-12 grade students, that challenges participants to answer the question, “How will we sustainably feed nearly 10 billion people by the year 2050?” Using an inquiry-based approach, this gamified, virtual program encourages students to make decisions and adjust them as they see their impact on society, the environment, and the economy at a local and global scale. Multiple program options available.
Farmers 2050 is a FREE farm game available in the Apple Store or on Google Play. Grow crops, raise livestock, craft and sell goods, and engage with local and global partners as you level up.
